![]() Getting started, the reels move verry slow for a second or 2, then take off. The problem is, this deck has a gear driven takeup reel and idler, and there doesent seem to be a damn thing wrong with the geers. Likewise, this deck occasionally eats tape. ![]() It to seems to have takup reel going, but it is a bit more consistant than the other. My question is, how should I go about fixing this? New wheel? if so, how do I get the current one off, an where can I get a replacement? From all outward appearances, the rubber idler wheel seems to be the problem, it is making contact with the takeup wheel, but it seems to have a problem spinning it. I cleaned everything, and took it apart for some inspection. Otherwise, the deck plays fine if you nurse it into working. The 2060 has a issue getting the takeup reel going, and because of this, it eats tape on occasion, and it often takes multiple attempts to get it going, or even a little manual help. ![]() I'm a cassette newb, but mechanically inclined from years of working on cars and guns. The problem is, both have issues, and I dont know where to start in fixing them. ![]() Ok, I managed to come into a pair of the better Onkyo Decks, a TA-2800 and a TA-2060. ![]()
